ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario. Reporting to the contract manager, the Maintenance Mechanic will perform minor maintenance, minor cleaning and general architectural repairs to the facility. They will also assist the building operators as needed. This is a union position.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- General maintenance of doors/windows closures, door handles and hinges and other like devices.
- Light maintenance of mechanical equipment including cleaning and lubrication.
- Filter changing.
- Light duties such as sweeping, general cleaning, painting, garbage and snow removal.
- Erection of safety barriers.
- Shipping/Receiving and delivery of supplies and equipment.
- Inventory control and stock keeping.
- Maintenance of signage.
- Respond to emergencies as part of the emergency response team.
- Escorting of contractors as needed.
- Assisting the Building Operators as required.
- Complete H&S documentation and time sheets electronically.
- Complete Log books.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with patching, painting and general architectural repairs.
- Experience with minor mechanical repairs and maintenance.
- Trade certificate will be considered an asset.
- General experience using computers.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Security Clearance
- Working knowledge of building services including air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical and mechanical equipment controls and systems
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
- Excellent verbal and written communications, Bilingualism considered an asset.
- A team player, committed to working in a quality environment
- Ability to work on a ladders, lifts or scaffolds at various heights
- Bending and lifting as required
