Position Summary

Entera is actively seeking a Controller & Office Manager located in Toronto. This will report to the General Manager and also work in conjunction with the Joint Venture's parent companies Controllers to undertake and manage the financial and administration affairs of the Entera operations in accordance with Corporate Policy

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up construction jobs, cost codes, for all new contracts as required
  • Assist operations with any job start up requirements
  • Prepare salary recovery worksheets, monitor equipment recovery and other cost transfer forms and post
  • Office Manager - oversee all aspects of running office & managing 3-4 administrative & billing staff
  • Assist operations with updates to jobs (i.e. productivity, change orders, cost codes)
  • Perform month end process related to construction jobs (i.e. job closeouts, profit recognition, unbilled work orders) and work with operations staff to calculate all necessary accruals
  • Assist operations with preparation of any ad hoc reports related to job performance
  • Resolve any vendor payment disputes
  • Assist with collection of accounts receivable and holdbacks, bank deposits
  • Plan, organize and undertake the period close process including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements & bank reconciliations
  • Ensure conformity with internal accounting policies and business processes as well as compliance with established internal controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy
  • Support ongoing business planning and quarterly forecasting processes as well as annual strategic planning exercise
  • Support Sr. Management, Operations Manager and other stakeholders in job costing and variance analysis of operating results
  • Ensure integrity of financial data and systems and adherence to reporting timelines
  • Ensure management of general ledger
  • Participation in annual external audit
  • Complete and review month-end reconciliations and budget variance analyses
  • Manage cash flow
  • Provide financial recommendations and insights when new business initiatives are proposed

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting or a degree in Finance
  • CPA designation a requirement
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller or Controller position
  • Prior experience in a construction or engineering company preferred
  • Strong Organization Skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Construction experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and systems aptitude
  • Knowledge of Jonas or comparable ERP system preferred
