Black & McDonald’s Maintenance Division in Kansas City is growing! The Traffic Signal Technician will work out of our Kansas City, MO office, and reports directly to the General Foreman within the Maintenance Division.

Duties and responsibilities but not limited to the following:

  • Will be required to Join IBEW Local 53
  • IMSA Certifications – Work Zone & Traffic Signal Technician are a plus
  • In Touch with current trends in the Traffic Signal Market
  • Controller Programming Knowledge – 170 / 2070 / NEMA
  • Cabinet and Field Troubleshooting experience down to component level
  • Proficient in reading plans / cabinet drawings / manufacturer manuals
  • Wireless Communications – Setup & Operation
  • CCTV – functionality – installation – maintenance – troubleshooting
  • Detection System Knowledge – Camera’s / Radar / Loops
  • Pedestrian Detection System Experience
  • Pre-emption System – Knowledge & Troubleshooting
  • Conflict Monitor Tester Experience
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance
  • Fiber Optic Knowledge – Installation / Termination / Testing is a plus
  • Able to Organize Work Vehicle and Inventory Material
  • Maintain IMSA Certifications
  • Manufacturer Training is a plus
  • Required on call or evening / weekend call outs
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Knowledge is a plus

Competency Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in Traffic Signal Maintenance
  • High School Diploma or Higher Level of Learning
  • Strong Microsoft skills
  • Needs to have a Class A CDL license
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong client awareness
  • Tech savvy
