Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and Co-ordinate the activities of the Payroll Team
  • Processing of payroll payments via direct deposit and/or cheques
  • Preparation of payroll reports
  • Examine and verify accuracy of work and authorize routine payments
  • Weekly timesheet upload, review for approval
  • Identify training needs and train workers in their job duties
  • Issuance of ROEs using HRDC WebROE
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees
  • Annual preparation of T4s
  • Reconciliation as required
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with the unions – excellent communication skills
  • Update burden tables and union payment reconciliation

Education & Skill Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in bookkeeping, accounting or a related subject
  • At least 3-5 years of payroll experience preferably with unionized payroll exposure
  • Completed PCP or is enrolled in a CPA program is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with processing payroll in-house using an ERP system
  • Above average skills with MS Excel is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a deadline driven environment
