The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer opportunity is located in Vaughan and reports to the Chief Operator. The position requires continental shifts, thus candidates must have open and flexible availability.​

The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Experience within a TSSA-regulated ammonia plant
  • Operate air compressors, chillers, water towers, water softeners, air dryers, pumps, and fans
  • Chiller maintenance including cooling towers and associated equipment
  • Extensive experience on HVAC/R systems
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the refrigeration plant
  • Perform all tasks related to the safe and efficient operation of the plant including repairs and maintenance
  • Perform routine inspection and testing of equipment and building infrastructure to ensure proper operation
  • Perform minor repair and general maintenance duties associated with building systems
  • Document air compressor readings, all plant steam produced and consumption and gas consumption; supply gas forecasts to gas supplier
  • Track and log all gas, water, and hydro readings
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment for chillers and cooling towers
  • Familiar with CMM and preventative maintenance programs
  • Provide access and assistance to sub-trades as required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a 3rd Class Power Engineer certificate or higher or “A” or “B” Refrigeration Operator class certificate

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have experience working as an operator in an ammonia plant

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work 3:30 pm-3:30 am on a continental shift
  • Strong troubleshooting and interpersonal skills
  • Bending and lifting required; lifting under 30 kg
  • Ability to climb stairs and work on a ladder or scaffold as required
  • Good computer skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Provide vacation coverage for other operators
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain necessary security clearances
