ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald’s FMO Southwest Ontario team is growing! If you are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven individual searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. This Senior PV Technician is located in Kingston, Ontario.

The Senior PV Technician will fulfill day to day tasks in a timely manner ensuring that the building operates safely and efficiently. The position also requires compliance with Black & McDonald codes of conduct, health, safety and environmental policies and safe work practices along with any client specific protocol.

  • Monitor Photovoltaic Solar Facility SCADA during daylight hours 365 days per year. Curtail system output as per IESO requirements when Customer cannot perform task
  • Perform a large number of routine solar asset preventative maintenance on a continuous basis
  • Utilize the customer’s mobile asset management system on a continuous basis
  • Assist with coordination of all curtailment and shutdowns with Customers remote monitoring centre
  • Respond to Security System alarms during daylight hours 365 days per year, investigate and generate reports to the customer
  • Identify and determine location of production losses/site deficiencies
  • Assist with all warranty and non-warranty repairs/replacements
  • Maintain Spare Parts Inventory on site for Customer and recommend replenishment as required
  • Inspect and maintain all perimeter fencing
  • Perform snow plowing using site vehicles as required to clear access roads during winter months
  • Inspect and main gravel roads, complete non-warranty repairs
  • Inspect and maintain all site culverts/drainage ditches/landscaping
  • Perform panel snow removal/panel washing as requested by Customer

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The following certifications/designations are required

  • Electrical Trade License


SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Organization and time management
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • DSI platform and CMMS
  • Valid Driver’s license required
  • Lead Hand experience an asset
  • Must be comfortable working predominantly outdoors in all seasons/weather
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours & days – this site operates in daylight hours 365 days per year
