The Junior Payroll Administrator is located in Markham and typically reports directly to the Payroll Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely processing of weekly time sheets
  • Setting up new employees and handling terminations
  • Processing of payroll payments via direct deposit and/or cheques
  • Weekly time sheet review and approval
  • Issuance of ROE's using HRDC WebROE
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees
  • Annual preparation of T4's
  • Reconciliation as required
  • Payroll data entry and filing
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with the unions – excellent communication skills
  • Update burden tables and union payment reconciliation

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • In a related field including knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts


The following certifications/designations are considered an asset

  • Completed PCP or is enrolled in a CPA program is considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 - 2 years of payroll experience preferably with unionized payroll exposure

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with processing payroll in-house using an ERP system
  • Organization and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a deadline driven environment

    • MS Excel, Project is an asset
