Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up construction jobs, cost codes, billing markup rate tables for all new contracts and or work orders as required
  • Assist operations with any job start up requirements
  • Prepare salary recovery worksheets and other cost transfer forms and post
  • Perform monthly billing of construction jobs/work orders and send to clients
  • Assist operations with updates to jobs (i.e. productivity, change orders, cost codes)
  • Perform month end process related to construction jobs (i.e. job closeouts, profit recognition, unbilled work orders) and
  • update of accounting wip reports
  • Assist operations with preparation of any ad hoc reports related to job performance
  • Resolve any vendor payment disputes
  • Assist with collection of accounts receivable when required
  • Plan, organize and undertake the period close process including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial
  • statements, including supervision of junior staff members’ work as assigned
  • Ensure conformity with internal accounting policies and business processes as well as compliance with established internal
  • controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy
  • Support ongoing business planning and quarterly forecasting processes as well as annual strategic planning exercise
  • Support Regional Vice President, Division Managers and other stakeholders in job costing and variance analysis of operating
  • results
  • Ensure integrity of financial data and systems and adherence to Corporate reporting timelines
  • Ensure management of general ledger
  • Participation in annual external audit
  • Complete and review month-end reconciliations and budget variance analyses
  • Manage cash flow and other company assets
  • Provide financial recommendations and ideas when new business initiatives are proposed


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting or a degree in Finance
  • CPA designation a requirement
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency with advanced Excel skills
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller position
  • Prior experience in a construction or engineering company preferred
  • Strong Organization Skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of French, both written and verbal is an asset
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and systems aptitude
  • Knowledge of JDE Edwards or comparable ERP system preferred
