Reporting to the Project Manager or their designate. The Entry level Project Coordinator assists with overall project performance and status from start to finish and in accordance with schedule, and specifications. They participate with the project team to ensure project objectives such as cost, schedule, safety, and quality; and keep the Project Manager well-informed of progress, discrepancies, questions, and any impacts on project plan and schedule.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, vendors, and suppliers, while keeping them informed of relevant information
- Assist in planning and preparing schedules and monitor progress against established timelines
- Comply and ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable HSE legislation and company policies and procedures, contract requirements, and Black & McDonald policies and procedures
- Maintain departmental and network databases as required to ensure records are kept current and accurate
- Participate in document control, archive project activities, deliverables, tools and findings for use in future projects
- Assist the project team to ensure project objectives, schedule, policies, procedures, and performance standards are met in accordance with company policy and contract specifications
- Participate with the project team to plan construction schedules and milestones and execute project(s) on time, within budget, and in accordance with corporate policy
- Track, interpret, analyze, and report on project data

EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- 1-3 years as an Electrical Project Coordinator or as a Civil Project Coordinator in the construction industry
- Project experience in utilities construction is considered an asset
- Exposure and basic understanding of:
o Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
o Blueprint reading
o Procurement
o Project structural design interpretation
o Established construction practices, procedures and techniques
o Applicable local and provincial labour codes
o Business operations processes
o Organization and time management - Previous experience working with ERP applications, i.e. JD Edwards (Oracle), SAP, etc would be considered
an asset - Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
- Willing and able to travel to sites around Calgary, and surrounding areas
- Valid Driver’s License, with Clean Abstract
A Degree or Diploma in the following would be considered an asset: • Electrical Technologist Degree
- Project Management
- Construction Management
Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets
- Ground Disturbance Certification
- CSTS
- WHMIS
- First Aid
