The Electrical Testing Project Manager will be responsible for the estimation, planning, delivery, management, and governance of assigned projects in accordance with the Black & McDonald project management processes defined by scope, schedule & quality. The successful candidate will provide leadership and clear direction to the project team and work directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

    • Manage acceptance and maintenance testing work on electric distribution, transmission and substation projects, including new facilities, major additions, rehab and retrofit projects
    • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships
    • Manage all aspects of assigned project(s) including:
      1. Creating project-related documents
      2. Communications
      3. Team leadership
      4. Sign off and delivery to approved scope, cost estimate, schedule and resource plan
      5. Control of project scope, cost, quality and schedule parameters/risk management
      6. Ensure quality standards are met
      7. Compliance with HSE and Black & McDonald standards and policies
      8. Contracted services, equipment and material procurement and administration
      9. Interface with construction and commissioning
      10. Close activities with project acceptance; and
      11. Provide project status reports to team members and stakeholders
      • Promote a culture of efficiency, teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization both throughout the group, the project team(s) and project support groups
      • Provide project management consulting and expertise for peers within the group. Seek and promote 'best practices' approach to project management within the team and work group
      • Perform sales calls and visits to potential and existing accounts to generate business

        EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

        • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience in all aspects of utility substation projects

        WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

        • 7+ years' experience with electrical project management or equivalent relevant experience
        • Experience with successful delivery of complex projects
        • Team leadership experience
        • Demonstrated experience with a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, utility representatives, and client personnel in a positive collaborative manner
        • Strong experience in: negotiations, presentation, project management, interpersonal & written communication, and critical analysis

        SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

        • Knowledge of substation operations and regulatory standards
        • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven

        Black & McDonald realizes there are few Testing Electrical Project Managers available, we are looking for an experienced electrical construction project manager willing to learn the electrical power equipment testing and maintenance methods. Our testing and maintenance is done to the NETA (International Electrical Testing Association) Acceptance testing and Maintenance standards for electrical power equipment systems.
