The Heating & Combustion Supervisor is located in the Greater Toronto Area, ON and typically reports directly to the Service Operations Manager.

The Heating & Combustion Supervisor will supervise the Field Service Operations of a commercial and industrial boiler and combustion equipment service team, based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The Heating & Combustion Supervisor will plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate assigned project(s) from start to finish and in accordance with schedule, specifications, and budget. Their primary focus is safety, planning, monitoring progress, scheduling, quality, costs management, estimating, reporting, and managing project change under the direction of the Service Operations Manager.

The Heating & Combustion Supervisor will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on progress, labour productivity, work outcomes, budget, cost, and forecast
  • Prepare field labor and material estimates for retrofit jobs and field service quotations
  • Prepare and submit project estimates and price/negotiate all changes in scope as required
  • Responsible for adherence to Company’s safety program by self, Field Service personnel
  • Lead and direct daily service operations work of the Team’s Field Service personnel
  • Establish performance expectations and goals for Team’s Field Service personnel
  • Develop and implement training goals and objectives for the Team’s Field Service personnel
  • Field Service Foreman shall report directly to and be responsible to the Heating & Combustion Supervisor
  • Manage abrupt schedule changes and demands
  • Implement all Management directives, goals and objectives
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable standards, i.e., HSE regulations, company policies and procedures, and contract requirements
  • Develop and communicate detailed mechanical and electrical scopes of work
  • Supervise field installation, commissioning of boiler systems, retrofit and upgrade projects, and customer training
  • Work with Operations Manager to hire future Field Service personnel.
  • Hiring to be executed in conjunction with and compliant with Company employment practices and collective agreements
  • Travel approximately 30% of the time, primarily day trips, can including weekends and holidays.
  • Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
  • Be Familiar and apply codes and standards, such as: TSSA ASME, NFPA, UL, NEC, etc. applicable to work completed by the Field Service Group
  • Ensure accurate productivity reports are completed weekly.
  • Support other divisions within the Company, as needed and requested
  • Other duties as assigned


COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Understanding of commercial and industrial boilers, combustion systems, and ancillary boiler equipment and systems
  • Understanding of industrial controls
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Operations Management:
    • Direct daily work of Field Service personnel
    • Establish performance expectations and goals for Field Service personnel with the Service Operations Manager
    • Develop and implement training goals and objectives for Field Service personnel with Service Operations Manager
    • Supervise and Maintaining schedules
    • Managing multiple fast moving projects simultaneously
    • Handle abrupt schedule changes and demands
  • Must have “Hands On” ability and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills a must
    • Internal – Field Service personnel, Service coordinator, Shop and Engineering
    • External – Customers, Vendors, Inspectors


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3–5 years of Boiler/Burner and related equipment service operations
  • Field Service Supervision experience in the construction industry
