The Human Resources Generalist is located in Markham/Thornhill and typically reports directly to the HR Manager. Their primary focus is providing support to the HR and operational team, in specific areas and activities to support and facilitate key processes including: employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, talent development, and other employee services.

The incumbent is efficient, focused, organized, and willing to work within a fast-paced environment. As an agile learner, the Human Resources Generalist is committed to continuous improvement, quality service delivery and time management. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support Human Resources team with group benefits, company pension plan and service award programs
  • Actively participate in planning employee and family events, where necessary
  • Coordinate the preparation of employment contracts, job descriptions, termination packages and discipline documentation
  • Coordinate the administration of employee onboarding process for new hires and ensure enrollment in appropriate in-house training sessions in a timely manner
  • Provide timely and accurate information to the payroll department, where necessary, to facilitate / coordinate a variety of internal compensation related processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records including: vacation time, sick time, salary reviews, performance appraisals and compliance/update of regional HR Toolkits
  • Ensure data is entered accurately into HRIS
  • Promptly and professionally respond to all internal and external customer requests
  • Issuance of adhoc reporting upon request from internal and external customers
  • File and maintain HR records
  • Attend career fairs as required
  • Build and maintain spreadsheets / databases for tracking HR activities as required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or Diploma with a specialization in Human Resources Management

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years’ experience in all areas of human resources
  • Experience working in the construction sector is considered an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to many mandatory vaccination requirements at client projects / facilities, in order to provide substantial employment by ensuring compliance with our clients mandates, the successful candidate will be required to validate full vaccination prior to hire.
