The Business Development Representative position is located in Vancouver and reports directly to the Sales Leader. It is a 100% hunter sales role with un-capped commissions. Black & McDonald will provide industry leading sales training, coaching and mentorship to someone who is motivated to succeed.

As a Business Development Representative, you will be responsible for selling HVAC maintenance agreements to new clients. As a member of the Service Sales team you will work with potential clients to evaluate their current situation and develop solutions that achieve their business objectives. Through ongoing training and development, you will use the proven Black & McDonald sales process to achieve your personal and departmental sales goals. The successful candidate would also assist the team in the development of long term client relationships. This position involves:

  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • Utilize proven sales methods to identify and solicit potential clients for future service work
  • Meet with and develop impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
  • Work with Project Representative and provide input where non contractual HVAC related services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  • Prepare sales contracts under the direction of the Sales Team
  • Price the agreement according to the company pricing standards
  • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start up meetings with new clients
  • Continue personal professional development
  • Participate in department planning meetings as necessary

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Business or Marketing (or equivalent combination of education and experience) would be considered an asset.


  • Prior experience in Business Development/Sales would be considered an asset
  • 2-5 years of experience in a “hunter” sales role with strong cold calling abilities
  • Successful track record in hitting sales targets and quotas


  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Superb time management and organization skills
  • Competency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Competency in a web based sales tracking software such as Sales Force
  • High degree of self-motivation and resilience
  • Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits as needed
  • Clean non-graduated Class 5 BC Drivers’ license and abstract
