The Protection & Control Specialist is based out of our Moncton office and reports directly to the Department Manager. Their primary focus is providing electrical engineering technical support to the Field Services Division. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform field testing and programming of various protection relays used in the power industry (GE and SEL etc.)
- Be working with protection, control, metering, telecom and communication equipment in coordination with SCADA systems
- Maintain or Commission Power transmission, substation and distribution equipment - ie Protection and control circuits, Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, HV Switches and breaker, GIS switchgear etc.
- Interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line and singer lines (EWD, CDW etc.)
- Apply knowledge of NETA codes and standards used in the testing industry
- Plan and deliver projects within budget and schedule, liaison with customers
- Have an understanding of related electrical safety principles
- Be safety conscious and gain knowledge in Electrical Safety Awareness

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree with a focus in power systems.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Related industry experience considered an asset

- Physically fit to lift and carry electrical test equipment
- Willing and able to travel in and around Atlantic Provinces
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license
- Bilingual could be considered an asset
