The Quality Assurance Specialist is located in Pickering and reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
The Quality Assurance Specialist supports the QA Manager in ensuring effective implementation of the Black & McDonald management system and leads, defines, administers, and develops quality assurance and quality control practices designed to drive standardization and, ultimately, high-quality results. This position requires the ability to audit existing processes against written procedures and identify improvements to processes/procedures to continually improve the quality of our product or service. The position requires the individual to be proficient in QA codes and standards, including CSA N286/N299 and Pressure Boundary Codes and Standards, including CSA B51/N285.0 and Pressure Vessel Codes.

Solid judgment and resourcefulness are needed to effectively deal with multiple, highly variable factors and conflicting priorities of various departments and customers. The QA Specialist may need to lead, participate in, and report on incident investigations and interact with all levels of the company, as the Quality Management System encompasses all areas of our business.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the development, establishment and enforcement of Black & McDonald’s management system documents and certifications.
  • Review and approve supplier technical procedures (exp. NDE).
  • Review and approve supplier inspection and test plans (ITP) and assign verification activities such as witness, hold and review/verification inspection points, as required.
  • Conduct source surveillance activities and participate in factory acceptance tests.
  • Conduct supplier audits.
  • Conduct supplier engineering and procurement surveillance.
  • Track supplier corrective actions (SCARs) to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Coordinating, supporting, and tracking closure corrective actions that are raised by internal/ external audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Support in the development of project documents such as Project Quality Plans (PQP).
  • Review RFQs and SOWs to participate in estimating kick-off meetings and provide input as it relates to quality.
  • Providing indoctrination and training, when requested, to personnel whose activities affect quality.
  • Identify and control nonconforming items according to Black & McDonald's Procedures.
  • Provide input for QA program improvement processes and activities.
  • Conduct Apparent Cause Evaluations (ACE) as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College or University in a technical-related discipline or related experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 10 years of QA experience


SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Nuclear Lead Auditor certification would be an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Codes and Standards.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Computer Literacy: MS Work, Outlook, and Excel.
  • OPG Security Clearance requirements
  • Position may require travel (Domestic and International)
