ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald is looking for a Business Development Representative in Ottawa, ON. The Business Development Representative will be assigned a geographical or vertical market and will be responsible for prospecting potential new clients in the assigned market, uncovering needs, and providing solutions and entering into service agreements with new clients. Training will be provided as needed. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • Identify and solicit potential clients for future service work
  • Meet with and develop relationships with potential clients
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
  • Work with Project Representatives
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  • Prepare sales agreements under the direction of the Sales Team
  • Price agreements according to the Company pricing standards
  • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start-up meetings with new clients
  • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities
  • Provide technical, process or estimating support during project design or proposal phase
  • Assist as needed in developing the customer business case for project solution
  • Build detailed cost estimate and scope of work in conjunction with operations and sales staff
  • Assist in technical or financial benchmarking as needed
  • Perform on-site data collection at customer facilities required to perform detailed estimates
  • Participate in meetings with Operations and Sales to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understood

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in business, engineering or a related field is considered an asset
  • Experience working in the trades is considered an asset
  • Technical knowledge or training including HVAC, mechanical or facilities is considered an asset
  • 1-3 years’ experience in sales and preparing proposals or contracts
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Available to travel on occasion as required
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
