Reporting to the Sr. Advisor, the Operational Business Analyst will help identify strategies and opportunities to increase company revenue by helping improve internal / external business processes, services, and strategies through the analysis of business data from a variety of internal sources. This role will analyse current business practices through a critical lens, and make data driven recommendations to senior business leaders where such analysis identifies opportunities for efficiencies, cost savings, and improved business functions. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with business stakeholders to review current business strategies, processes, and outcomes in an effort to evaluate improvement opportunities through the use of historical data
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with all operational leaders and staff members
  • Assist business leaders by analyzing information extracted from a variety of data sources, and present options / recommendations toward business improvement(s)
  • Monitor outflowing cost and analyze opportunities for cost reduction for similar or improved service(s)
  • Identify opportunities and / or solutions and obtain buy-in from business leaders through business case
    analysis and data driven demonstrations
  • Demonstrate a high level of expertise in all company information systems to ensure access to all
    applicable information necessary to evaluate solution strategies
  • Lead / assist with the implementation of new initiatives upon receiving approval from business
    leadership
  • Create internal guides, training materials and end-user documentation, as necessary, to ensure the
    appropriate implementation of new business solutions / improvements
  • Validate improvement initiatives and optimization strategies, where necessary, through annual reporting
    and comparison analysis (i.e. before vs. after)
  • Assist all operational and functional areas with change management and implementation, as required
  • Use business data to help determine future requirements or gaps which may exist between current
    information systems and future requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate Degree in related engineering, business or construction disciplines or equivalent experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the construction and / or contracting environment, experience within
    a data analyst role will be considered an asset
  • A strong proven track record of business and operational know-how including business financials, business
    process, and business standards will be considered an asset
  • Very strong preference for candidates who have both operational and analyst experience within the construction
    industry with a large multi-trade contractor

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • A thorough understanding of established construction practices, procedures and techniques
  • An ability to develop / present persuasive business case information to illustrate data driven recommendations
  • Organization and time management, with strong adherence to deadlines
  • Willing and able to travel to project sites within Canada and sometimes the United States, as necessary
  • Experience navigating business intelligence systems and extracting usable data
  • Highly proficient in Excel and MS Office
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of business process improvements (i.e. Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
