Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facility Coordinator will fulfill day to day tasks in a timely manner ensuring that the building operates safely and efficiently. The position also requires compliance with Black & McDonald codes of conduct, health, safety and environmental policies and safe work practices along with any client specific protocol. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify capital replacement and repairs and provide client and Facilities Manager with quotations
- Solicit quotations for building improvements.
- Assist with coordinating the operation of facilities within the areas of safety, productivity and efficiency to the standards of the contract and to the satisfaction of our customers
- Maintain comfort levels to building environment through the computerized building automation system or manual systems
- Assist in routine facility inspections and general maintenance duties
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and other third parties to understand challenges and opportunities, ensure timely exchange of information and ensure service level requirements are met
- Maintain a maintenance log and tracking of all work/repairs through work order system
- Interface with internal customers ensuring effective communications regarding status and priority of work
- Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all relevant health, safety and environmental policies and procedures by all interested parties
- Ensure all work areas are maintained in a clean and safe working condition
- Ensure standard operating procedures, planned maintenance activities and any other relevant guidelines are maintained, stored correctly and strictly adhered to with suggestions offered to update as appropriate
- Ensure the correct and legible completion at all times of any required documentation including timesheets or software-based systems
- Respond to demand and emergency issues promptly, utilising the computerised building automation system or manual systems where appropriate
- Perform shift tours, record and log the relevant information and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel, fully investigating any issues that arise as required.
- Perform routine inspections and tests on building fire and life safety equipment such as fire protection systems, medical air - gases and emergency generators, etc. Provide the necessary support to allow scheduled maintenance and repairs to be carried out on such equipment
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to all assets and any other related equipment
- Configuration of plant and systems to allow maintenance work to be completed as required.
- Perform minor plumbing and general building maintenance and repair duties (i.e: drywall repairs, painting, replace washers, faucets, sinks, clear toilets and drains, sumps pits, and replace faulty lighting lamps and fixtures within the appropriate guidelines)
- Attend to out of hours emergencies as required

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, facility or property management, or related trade preferred
- Must have a strong knowledge of building electrical, mechanical, HVAC and building structural systems
- Strong excel and computer systems knowledge is an asset
- Experience in coordinating all building services utilizing contractors and in-house staff
- Knowledge of Local and National electrical codes, National Building Code and National Fire Code is an asset
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience in problem solving abilities and research
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and operational vehicle
- Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance
- Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and flexibility with working hours
- Excellent trouble shooting and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to read blueprints and follow verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Bending and lifting required; lifting under 30kgs
