TITLE: SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

Position : Senior Financial Analyst (contract)

Duration: 6 months to start; possibility of extension

Location : Yonge/Bloor, Toronto and Markham, ON (hybrid position)

The Senior Financial Analyst role provides monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, business process & controls support. In this position, you will develop key working relationships with members of the Shared Services teams and Controllers group.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, in this role you will work with these teams to drive successful budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting and application of process controls.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Monthly responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Supports financial reporting process:

• Compilation of data to prepare key performance indicators and related analytics (Corporate Update & Regional Analysis)

• Assist with preparing a month end management reporting package

• Provide monthly analytics and reports company-wide.

Process & Controls

• Perform data governance related data analysis and clean up

• Analyze system security requests and provide recommendations

• Assist in reviewing and maintaining control processes and activities

• Review Monthly and Quarterly security reports

Quarterly

• Monthly activities as per above

• Drive budgeting, forecasting for Corporate group and Major Projects

Annually

• Prepare analysis in support of the annual Corporate Office and ERP allocations to the regions

• Assist with data governance queries, issues and make recommendations

Other

• Active contributor in process improvement working groups, controls and compliance activities and business intelligence projects

• Assist with data governance queries, issues and make recommendations

• Partner closely with stakeholders to improve and simplify reporting & various processes

• Assist in compiling and maintaining risk register and related analysis

• Assist in reviewing and documenting processes

• Participation in special projects and provide ad-hoc analysis on potential acquisitions, where necessary

• Demonstrate interest in and accountability for personal and professional development

• Provides financial analysis support to other functions (e.g. HR, PMO etc) as directed

• Provide support for control related activities in connection with external audits

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced proficiency level & experience with MS Excel is required - demonstrated ability to summarize and distill volumes of data into meaningful management reports

• Experience with Microsoft Access and Visual Basic an asset

• At least 8+ years of work experience in a similar financial analysis role

• Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)

• Construction experience a plus but not required

• Strong organization and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, and advanced proficiency with MS Excel.

• Approx 5% travel to downtown Toronto or other offices may be required
