The Range keeper reports to the Project Manager and will provide Shooting Range services for the Military Outdoor Training Ranges located Burwash Ontario.
You must be suitably physically sound and adaptable enough to do moderate lifting and to walk over rough terrain, have experience/knowledge in the operation of shooting ranges, have a general property maintenance background and be able to operate small-medium sized machinery/tools such as tractors with various attachments (i.e. farm tractor, lawn mower, aerator, front-end bucket, snow blower) power hand mowers, trimmers, walk behind snow blower, power saws and hand tools including but not limited to shovels, hammers, saws, rakes, telephones.
You will be required to work on a flexible schedule on weekdays, weekends and evenings according to range reservations/ schedules as presented by the Company Office.
You must be a self-starter, demonstrate a good work ethic and provide superior customer service. You will need to display good communication in the English Language as well as inter-personal and organizational skills. Within your duties you will be expected to interface with DND/Police/civilian range users as well as assigned subcontractors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties include
Scheduling
- Track range bookings ensuring no overlapping. Advise the Project Office if more than 90 shoots occur annually at Winona range and 110 shoots at Cedar Springs.
- Repair targets/backings 1080 fig. 11 targets/backings and 1080 targets/backings for fig 12 at Winona Range as well as replacement of 24 figure 11 target frames and 48 target frames for figure 12.
- Repair 880 targets/backing for FIG.11 targets and 880 FIG. 12 targets/backing annually at Cedar Springs Range as well as the replacement of 28 fig.12 target frames annually and 14 frames for fig.11 annually.
- Repairs include removing and replacing the paper target figures.
- Provide flexible hours to accommodate the march in/ march out process which includes frequent evening/weekend activity
- Oversee in and out inspections.
- Regularly inspect all range property and infrastructure reporting work order needs to the Company office as required and conducting day–to-day operation and maintenance as required
- With exercise directors (OIC Exercise) conduct in/out inspections ensuring the ranges and buildings are properly returned as found by the users and March in/out forms are signed by the Exercise representative
- Reporting, recording all incidents, damages, causes and vandalism (including graffiti in the Butts)
- Report malfunctioning installed equipment including kitchen and laundry equipment
- Get Project Manager authority before calling in subcontractors;
- Ensuring First Aid Fire Fighting equipment/supplies are maintained and replenished.
Maintain Ranges/infrastructure
- Walk the perimeter fence lines ensuring the fences are kept in good repair and growth is cut back to an acceptable level
- Complete all grass cutting and snow removal and ice control operations with equipment provided iaw the performance standards provided by the Project Manager or,
- When grass cutting and snow clearing subcontracts are in-place call the subcontractor for service and inform the Project Manager as required if problems with service develop Do not exceed the terms of the contract without prior Project Manager approval;
- Prune trees, shrubs and plants as required for neat appearance and maintenance.
- Notify the Project office when maintenance response beyond his/her control is required including the need for capital expenditure
- Build/Repair target frames ensuring sufficient are on-hand at all times replacing
Facilities’ Housekeeping
- Conduct janitorial services in all range buildings.
- Conduct routine repairs paying particular attention to occupant safety, protection of occupants and property against further damage
- Provide janitorial supplies as required to assist Range visitors;
- Institute suitable waste disposal and materials recycling;
- Take appropriate measures for the control of pests both indoors and outdoors;
- Pick up litter and garbage as required
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid Ontario
driver’s license and be prepared to operate Company vehicles/equipment safely in the performance of their duties
- Must work flexible hours according to Range reservations;
- Must be prepared to wear and respond to calls
- Will be required to pass a security clearance and adhere to the Company Code of ethics, Code of conduct and confidentiality agreements;
